He was diagnosed with a partial rotator cuff tear and had received dozens of injection treatments, but his symptoms didn't improve. He was eventually told he needed surgery, which is when he came to see me. The patient ran his own business and said he couldn't undergo surgical treatment. Let's first look at the patient's condition.
On ultrasound, the dark area indicated by the arrow within the red circle shows the torn rotator cuff. The ultrasound reveals a partial tear that is nearly a complete tear. Despite previous injection treatments, there appears to be no improvement whatsoever. Although the tear was close to complete, the tear size was small and the patient's circumstances prevented surgery. We decided to proceed with non-surgical treatment. Bone marrow stimulation stem cell regeneration and reduction suture technique were performed.
In the video, you can see that the bone at the tear site is precisely targeted and tiny holes are created. Through these holes, bone marrow is released, and the stem cells, platelets, growth factors, and other components within the marrow promote tissue healing. Next, a specially designed suture is inserted through the torn rotator cuff and anchored within the tendon and bone using the reduction suture technique. This reduces the tear size and prevents further progression. Additionally, regenerative therapy using tissue-healing agents was performed. Tissue healing takes approximately 3 months. During this period, the patient rested while undergoing rehabilitation therapy. An ultrasound examination was performed 3 months later.
Looking at the ultrasound of the same area, you can see that the previously dark area has regenerated and now appears white.
Comparing the before and after images, the regeneration of the rotator cuff is clearly evident. If a partial rotator cuff tear is left untreated and eventually progresses to a complete tear, surgical treatment becomes necessary. However, if the partial tear is treated before it becomes a complete tear, you can maintain a healthy shoulder without surgery.
When a partial rotator cuff tear is present, bone marrow stimulation stem cell regeneration and reduction suture technique can be an excellent treatment option.
