A 58-year-old female patient who had been suffering from shoulder pain for 6 months. Despite receiving multiple injection treatments at another hospital, symptoms didn't improve. The pain worsened and range of motion became limited. She was recommended surgical treatment at the other hospital. Having been diagnosed with calcific tendinitis, let's review the X-ray.

As shown in the video, the NewPIMS treatment involves calcium crushing and aspiration for shoulder calcific tendinitis. After crushing the calcium, aspiration is performed with a syringe. You can see the initially clear fluid in the syringe gradually becoming cloudy — this is due to the crushed calcium.

After crushing and aspirating the calcium through the NewPIMS treatment, let's see the X-ray:

Pain was significantly reduced after the procedure and the patient was very satisfied. The remaining calcium will be addressed with additional shockwave therapy. Shoulder calcific tendinitis can be healed without surgery. Of course, if a rotator cuff tear is also present, surgery may be needed depending on the tear pattern. But for calcific tendinitis alone, surgery is not necessary in my opinion.
