A 55-year-old female patient had been experiencing shoulder pain for about 5 years. She visited our clinic when the pain became extremely severe recently. She had been told at another hospital that her pain was due to calcific tendinitis, and that the calcium deposit was so large that surgical treatment would be necessary. She then came to Platinum Clinic for a second opinion. X-ray and ultrasound examinations were performed, revealing a massive calcium deposit measuring approximately 2.7cm x 2.7cm. The tendon condition was assessed as tendinosis due to inflammation, and calcium aspiration injection therapy along with shockwave therapy was performed.

From left to right, the calcium deposit marked by the yellow dotted line can be seen gradually fading and disappearing.

The most effective and fastest way to treat calcific tendinitis is to remove the calcium deposit, which can quickly relieve the patient's pain. Calcium aspiration injection therapy is an excellent treatment method that can provide immediate pain relief. Additionally, using shockwave therapy to treat any remaining calcium that was not fully aspirated can lead to even faster absorption of the deposit.
