Hello, I'm Dr. Dongkyu Lee, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. Shoulder calcific tendinitis. Patients who have experienced it know just how agonizing it can be. The pain is so severe that you can't move your arm, you can't sleep at night, and some patients even say they wish they could just cut their arm off. The reason calcific tendinitis is so painful is that the calcification triggers inflammation, which causes a rapid increase in pressure within the tendon. To put it in simpler terms, think of a boil on your skin that becomes red and swollen — even the slightest touch causes pain. When the boil bursts and the inflamed pus drains out, the pain disappears. But with calcification trapped inside a tendon, it has nowhere to go, so the pain never resolves and manifests as excruciating agony. So what is the fundamental treatment for calcific tendinitis? It's removing the calcification. Once the calcification is physically removed, the inflammation subsides and the pressure decreases, which dramatically eliminates the pain and provides a fundamental cure for calcific tendinitis. So how do we remove the calcification? Is surgery necessary? Calcific tendinitis can be treated without surgery, and calcification crushing and aspiration can completely cure calcific tendinitis non-surgically. 🔗 https://blog.naver.com/9690067/223320621867A patient walked into the examination room clutching their shoulder. They said they had been told about calcific tendinitis before and had been getting injections whenever the pain flared up. But about a week ago, the pain became truly unbearable. They went to another hospital for an injection, but it didn't help at all. That hospital told them the calcification was too large and surgery was necessary. After learning that there was a way to remove the calcification without surgery, they came to see me. When they walked in, they couldn't move their arm at all and simply begged me to fix it... Let's check the current condition.

On the X-ray, a large, bright white calcification is visible inside the red circle.

On ultrasound, a large calcification measuring 1.53 x 1.76 cm was observed. Calcification crushing and aspiration was performed to remove the calcification.
Calcification crushing and aspiration is performed under regional anesthesia using a specially designed guide, drill, and Platinum Clinic's proprietary solution to crush the calcification. The crushed calcification is then aspirated out. This method of removing calcification — from the instruments to the technique itself — was developed by me and is, to my knowledge, the only procedure of its kind in the country. Because the calcification can be removed in a single procedure, patient satisfaction is exceptionally high. Over more than 10 years of performing calcification crushing and aspiration, I have treated a wide variety of calcific tendinitis cases, and there has never been a calcification I couldn't remove.

Looking at the syringe photo after the procedure, you can see an enormous amount of extracted calcification. A follow-up X-ray was taken after the procedure.

The X-ray shows that the large, white calcification that was previously visible has been removed. When I showed the patient the syringe photo and the post-procedure X-ray, they were amazed that something like that had been inside their body. They felt both astonished and deeply relieved. One week later, when the patient returned for their follow-up, they broke down in tears of gratitude. They said that before the procedure, they couldn't sleep due to the pain and could barely function in daily life. Since the procedure, they've had absolutely no pain. They said they've been sleeping well again and were so grateful that tears came naturally. They were so happy that what another hospital said required surgery could be completely resolved without any surgery at all. It was a moment of happiness for both the patient and for me.
Shoulder calcific tendinitis causes truly excruciating pain. Calcification crushing and aspiration can dramatically eliminate that pain. Shoulder calcific tendinitis can be cured with just one procedure — calcification crushing and aspiration. Dr. Dongkyu Lee
